Tinubu to reshuffle cabinet after EFCC probe - Presidency

The Presidency stated that it is entirely up to President Bola Tinubu to decide on a cabinet reshuffle after the results from the current investigation into the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Presidency went on to label the chatter surrounding a potential reshuffle following the suspension of the beleaguered Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Betta Edu, as pure speculation.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, hinted at this during an appearance on TVC’s programme, Politics on Sunday.

It is worth noting that parts of the media had recently speculated that President Tinubu is poised to reshuffle his cabinet anytime soon, given performance struggles and lack of preparedness among certain appointees. These reports also suggested a connection between the possible reshuffle and the ongoing investigation in the Humanitarian Ministry.

Addressing these rumors, Chief Ngelale stated that these are mere speculations at the moment, whereas what's certain is that the President has called for a thorough inquiry. He will form his actions based on this investigation's results.

Ngelale further commented that the President is unlikely to make alterations until he has a solid understanding of the investigation's findings which could involve other government officials. He said the President is fully aware of everyone's actions within his administration.

He concluded by highlighting the role of the President's special adviser on policy and coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, who is also tracking the performances of the MDAs at any given time.
