Presidential Poll: Working Toward Good Governance After the Legal Battle- Barau
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the recent election. Senator Jibrin expressed his satisfaction with the judgement, emphasizing the importance of the Court's role in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. He also lauded President Tinubu for his leadership and dedication to the development of the country. The Senator expressed confidence that under President Tinubu's leadership, Nigeria will experience progress and prosperity.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has praised the Supreme Court's decision to uphold President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's victory in the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the judgement as a victory for democracy. He called on the appellants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), to join forces with President Tinubu to address the challenges facing the country.
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi on Thursday. Senator Barau urged the appellants to accept the ruling in good faith and praised the justices of the court for upholding the decision of the electorate who voted for President Tinubu.
Senator Barau stated, "The legal battle is over with today's judgement of the Supreme Court, affirming the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25, 2023, presidential election. Nigerians have won, democracy has won, and the country will be better for it."
He also commended the Supreme Court justices for upholding the verdict of the Nigerian electorate and called on everyone to work together with the president to achieve his vision and policies for the development of the country as outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Senator Barau reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to pass legislation that supports the executive's initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy and achieving sustainable peace, unity, and development for Nigeria as a whole.
