Tinubu's Commitment to Investing in Nigerian Tertiary Education

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reiterated his commitment to increasing access to tertiary-level education across Nigeria. Tinubu pledged to make education the priority of his administration, citing that it would drive economic growth and create opportunities for a better future. He promised to open more educational institutions and offer scholarships to reduce the financial burden of tuition. Tinubu also promised to provide a better learning environment for students by investing in infrastructure and improving teacher quality. Tinubu is dedicated to bettering the lives of Nigerians through the power of education.

Tinubu's Commitment to Investing in Nigerian Tertiary Education

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to prioritizing tertiary education in order to produce globally competitive educational institutions for the economic and technological development of Nigeria.

Speaking at the commissioning of six new block projects in Bauchi, Tinubu emphasized the importance of education in the socio-economic development of nations. The projects include new buildings for the Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Management Technology at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, as well as a lecture theater and laboratories at Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), all funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, stated that the government will continue to invest in training and research to improve academic standards. Efforts will also be made to address challenges facing tertiary education and ensure a smooth academic session.

The President also highlighted TETFund's role in providing infrastructure and support to public tertiary institutions. He mentioned the upcoming implementation of an upward review of the Education Tax (EDT) to 3 percent, which will contribute to improved funding for the education sector and the development of public tertiary institutions.

Tinubu reiterated his administration's commitment to the Renewed Hope agenda, stating that the Federal Government will provide necessary support to make educational institutions globally competitive for the country's economic and technological development.

The Minister further highlighted TETFund's achievements, including the sponsorship of lecturers for PhD, Masters degrees, and conferences, as well as investments in physical infrastructure and research and development.

In addition, three projects at Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi, valued at N401,554,348.19, were commissioned. These projects include a 500-seater capacity examination hall, a 300-seater examination hall, and a students' hostel block.

The President urged the management of the University and the Polytechnic to fully utilize the facilities for the educational and vocational development of the students.
