Fire Causes Devastating Damage to ABU Senate Building

A Major Fire Outbreak occurred at the Senate Building of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Nigeria. There have been reports of people trapped in the burning building, and the fire is still ongoing. Emergency services have been dispatched to the scene. There are no reports yet on casualties or damages caused by the fire. We urge all citizens to remain calm as the situation is currently under control.

Fire Causes Devastating Damage to ABU Senate Building

The Senate building of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria was engulfed by a fire on Friday evening. According to a statement by the university's Director of Public Affairs, Awwal Umar, the fire started at around 4:15 pm in a small room that housed an electrical Distribution Board (DB) on the ground floor of the building. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Thankfully, there were no injuries or casualties reported, but the Distribution Board and some obsolete public address systems were destroyed by the fire. The university's firefighters and security personnel were able to control the situation and power has been restored to the building.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kabiru Bala, was present at the scene along with other management staff and many sympathizers. He praised the quick response and efforts of the university's firefighters and security personnel.

An investigation team has been set up by the university management to determine the cause of the fire.
