Katsina State Gov. Radda Disburses N640m Scholarship Allowance to Students

Gov Radda has disbursed over N640 million in scholarship allowances to students in Katsina State in northern Nigeria. The allowance has been paid to over 35,000 students who are enrolled in public and private schools across the state. The government said the allowance would assist the students in covering their tuition fees, buy books and other essentials. This would help in the overall development of the state and improve educational outcomes for students.

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched the distribution of over N640 million in scholarship allowances to students from the state who are studying at various higher institutions.

The event took place on Monday at the Katsina State Scholarship Board, where the governor also presented the inaugural Katsina State Government Award of Academic Excellence to students who have achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.50 and above.

In his speech, the governor stated that the approval of N640,648,546 for the scholarship payments for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions is evidence of his administration's commitment to supporting Katsina students in tertiary institutions across the state.

"We will continue to improve the lives of our hardworking and intelligent students. The timely payment of these scholarships is aimed at alleviating the economic hardship of many parents in our state," he said.

The award of academic excellence is intended to inspire the younger generation to focus on their studies. The purpose of the award is to reward hard work and promote competition among Katsina students, added the governor.

A total of 210 Katsina students with a CGPA of 4.5 and above received N50,000 each, and the beneficiaries come from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

The Commissioner of Higher, Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Abdulhamid Ahmad, commended Governor Radda for the scholarship payments and the award of academic excellence. He stated that under Radda's leadership, the education sector in Katsina is undergoing transformation.

Dr. Aminu Salisu Tsauri, the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Scholarship Board, expressed gratitude to members of the National Assembly who supported the Katsina Government's efforts by assisting students in their respective areas with tuition fees.
